Parenting Support and Counselling
Parenting is the hardest job most people ever do, and very few of us get any training for it. Parenting support gives you a space to think, practical strategies, and someone on your side.
Trijog’s child psychologists and counsellors work with parents on their own, as a couple, or alongside a child’s therapy, in person in Mumbai or online. Grandparents and other caregivers can join when it helps.
- For parents on their own or together
- In person at our Mumbai centres, or online
- Grandparents and caregivers welcome
What We Help With
Pick what feels closest to what you are seeing. Not sure which one? That is fine, we can work it out in the first conversation.
Difficult behaviour at home
Tantrums, defiance and daily battles.
When every bedtime, meal or homework session becomes a fight, home stops feeling like home. Many parents feel they have tried everything.
- Daily tantrums or defiance
- Shouting that no longer works
- Feeling at a loss about what to do
- Different approaches between parents
You learn clear, calm strategies for instructions, praise and consequences, and how to use them consistently.
Screens and devices
Battles over phones, tablets and gaming.
Screens are part of modern childhood, but setting limits without constant conflict is hard, especially when adults use screens too.
- Meltdowns when screens are switched off
- Arguments about phone use
- Screens at meals or bedtime
- Not knowing what is age-appropriate
Together you build a realistic family screen plan that fits your values and your child’s age.
Parenting teenagers
Staying connected through the teenage years.
Doors close, conversations shrink, and worries grow. Knowing when to step in and when to step back is hard.
- Arguments about rules and independence
- Worry about friends, studies or safety
- Feeling shut out
- Concern about mood or behaviour
You learn ways to keep communication open, set boundaries that teenagers respect, and spot when your teenager needs more support.
Parenting a child with additional needs
Support when your child has ADHD, autism, learning or developmental needs.
Parents of children with additional needs juggle therapies, school meetings and daily challenges, often with little time for themselves.
- Feeling overwhelmed or exhausted
- Unsure how to explain needs to family or school
- Worry about the future
- Little time for yourself or your relationship
Sessions offer practical strategies, help with planning, and space to talk about how you are coping.
Co-parenting and separation
Parenting together when apart.
Separation is hard on everyone. Children do best when parents can communicate about them calmly, even when the relationship has ended.
- Conflict over decisions about the children
- Different rules in two homes
- Children caught in the middle
- Difficulty communicating with the other parent
Counselling helps parents focus on the children, agree practical arrangements and reduce conflict in front of them.
Parental stress and burnout
Looking after yourself while looking after them.
Many parents feel guilty, exhausted and stretched thin, especially when balancing work, home and family expectations.
- Feeling constantly tired or irritable
- Guilt about not doing enough
- Losing your temper more than you want to
- No time for yourself
You get space to talk about how you are doing, and practical ways to share the load and look after your own wellbeing.

Why This Kind Of Support Helps
No perfect parents
Every parent struggles sometimes. Asking for support is a strength, not a failure.
You matter too
Children do better when their parents are supported and not running on empty.
Small changes, big effects
Small, consistent changes in how adults respond often change children's behaviour.
No Crisis Needed
You can come with everyday questions, not just serious problems.

What A First Session Is Like
Nothing is expected of you beyond talking. Your counsellor will ask about your family, a typical day, what you have tried and what you would most like to change. You can come alone, with your partner, or with a grandparent. You will leave with one or two things to try.
Child Psychologists And Therapists
For assessment, therapy and practical guidance, in person or online.
A Specialist, If Needed
We can connect you with a paediatrician or psychiatrist when a medical opinion is worth having.
Parents, Always
You are part of the plan, with guidance on what to do at home.
For extended family
In many Indian homes, children are raised by several adults. A few things help everyone pull together.
- Agree a few key rules across parents and grandparents.
- Avoid contradicting each other in front of the children.
- Share the load, so no one person carries it all.
- Talk about disagreements privately, and calmly.
If a child needs help right now
- If a child talks about wanting to die, harm themselves or not wanting to be here, or you believe they are in danger, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital emergency.
- For free mental health support at any time, for you or your child, call the government's Tele-MANAS helpline on 14416 or 1-800 891 4416.
- Trijog is not an emergency service. Our sessions are by appointment, in person in Mumbai or online.
If any of these is happening, please do not wait for an appointment. Call 112 or go to the nearest hospital emergency. Tele-MANAS is free and open any time on 14416 or 1-800 891 4416.

You do not need to have it all figured out. Tell us what you are seeing, and we will take it from there.
