Psychologist in Mumbai

A psychologist is trained to understand how people think, feel and behave, and to help them change what is not working. Trijog’s psychologists see adults, couples, children and families at three Mumbai centres and online.

Our clinical work has been guided from the start by Senior Psychologist Anureet Sethi, who brings over 40 years of clinical experience. Today our team includes more than 220 mental health professionals.

The short answer

A psychologist in Mumbai can help with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, stress, grief, trauma and childhood concerns using talking therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy. Psychologists do not prescribe medicine; if medicine is worth discussing, they refer you to a psychiatrist. Trijog has psychologists at its Powai, Bandra and Prabhadevi centres and online.

What a psychologist does

A psychologist listens carefully, asks questions to understand the pattern behind what you are going through, and then works with you on it using approaches that have research behind them.

Depending on the concern, that might mean learning to spot and test unhelpful thoughts, changing habits that keep a problem going, working through a past experience, or improving how you communicate with the people close to you.

Psychologist, psychiatrist or counsellor?

A psychologist provides talking therapy and assessment. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can diagnose and prescribe medicine. A counsellor supports people through everyday difficulties and life changes.

If you are not sure which you need, start with a conversation. We will suggest the right person, and connect you with a psychiatrist if needed.

Checking a psychologist's qualifications

In India, clinical psychologists register with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI). It is reasonable to ask any psychologist about their training, their registration and the kinds of concerns they usually work with.
