Why registration matters
Registration shows that a professional has completed a recognised training programme and is accountable to a professional body. It is one of the simplest checks you can make before you start therapy.
Home / What Does an RCI-Registered Psychologist Mean?
When you look for a psychologist in India, you will often see “RCI registered”. Here is what that means, why it matters, and how to check it.
Trijog’s clinical team includes RCI-registered professionals, and we encourage every client to ask any therapist about their qualifications.
RCI stands for the Rehabilitation Council of India, a statutory body that maintains the Central Rehabilitation Register (CRR) of qualified rehabilitation professionals, including clinical psychologists. An RCI-registered clinical psychologist has completed recognised training and is listed on this register. You can ask a psychologist for their CRR number and verify it on the RCI website.

Clinical psychologists in India are required to register with the RCI to practise. Counsellors and counselling psychologists may have other recognised qualifications. Psychiatrists are medical doctors and register with a medical council rather than the RCI.

Registration is important, but it is not the only thing that matters. Experience with concerns like yours, a clear explanation of how they work, and whether you feel comfortable talking to them all count too.

Clinical psychologists do. Other professionals, such as counsellors and psychiatrists, have different qualifications and registration bodies.
